How MotherHelp works
MotherHelp is a community-to-community digital bridge: it helps people who are ready to help find verified needs, while helping mothers and families who may have little or no access to smartphones or the internet reach support through trusted community agents.
The person in need should not have to be the person with the best internet connection.
Many urgent needs are experienced by people who are least able to present themselves online. A mother may have no smartphone, no reliable internet connection, limited digital literacy, limited money for data, or no practical way to create and manage an online fundraising campaign.
Beneficiaries do not create MotherHelp accounts. MotherHelp is not a beneficiary self-service fundraising platform. The beneficiary does not need to create an account or operate the platform. A community agent can identify a genuine need, meet the family, assess the situation, explain the process, obtain the necessary consent, document the case and submit it for review.
The model is particularly intended to help mothers and families facing serious needs, including situations where there is no reliable husband or partner support. That does not mean every beneficiary must be a single mother; the platform focuses on verified need and vulnerability, not marital status alone.
A need is found in the community
A community agent identifies a mother or family facing a genuine assistance need and starts an assessment rather than asking the beneficiary to navigate fundraising alone.
Consent and evidence come first
The agent explains the process, records the appropriate consent and gathers supporting information. Private verification evidence is kept separate from the public story.
The case enters verification
A case is not automatically published just because it was submitted. It moves through the platform's review and verification workflow before public fundraising.
Verification before public fundraising
MotherHelp separates identification from public publication. The community agent may know the family, but the platform still requires the case to pass the relevant review process before it becomes a public funding opportunity.
What the agent observed and documented.
Evidence that the appropriate person understood and agreed to the public case process.
Documents, media or other information used for internal verification where appropriate.
Only an approved case with public visibility becomes available for public support.
The human bridge behind the technology
The community agent is important because technology cannot replace local knowledge, trust and physical assessment. Agents help MotherHelp reach people who may never visit a fundraising website themselves.
- Find and assess genuine needs.
- Explain the MotherHelp process in a way the beneficiary understands.
- Obtain and record the appropriate consent.
- Submit accurate information and supporting evidence.
- Participate in verification and follow-up.
- Record outcomes after assistance where appropriate.

Become community agentA digital coordination and accountability layer
MotherHelp is not simply a webpage where someone posts a story and waits for money. The technology is intended to coordinate a chain of actions:
Case registration
Structured information about the beneficiary, need, category, urgency and requested support.
Evidence & consent
Private records that support the case and document the public-consent process.
Verification workflow
Review stages that separate submitted cases from approved public cases.
Public case pages
A clear story, need, target and progress so supporters can make informed decisions.
Digital payments
Donation initiation and payment confirmation through supported payment providers.
Follow-up & impact
Updates, outcomes and platform analytics that help understand what support actually accomplishes.
The complete journey
Connect need with people willing to help — without making digital access a condition for receiving help.
MotherHelp is designed to put a trusted community relationship around the digital platform. The internet helps supporters discover and fund verified cases; the community agent helps ensure that people without smartphones, data or digital confidence can still be represented.
How MotherHelp makes sure assistance reaches the right person
- At beneficiary registration, the payout destination is captured. Mobile Money must be the same phone number registered for the beneficiary. Bank payouts record the beneficiary's account number and account-holder name.
- An administrator independently verifies that the destination belongs to the beneficiary. A mismatch blocks payout.
- When the campaign closes, the verified destination is locked into the settlement. The community agent cannot replace it.
- An administrator-led control process is mandatory: one administrator prepares and documents the settlement review, a different administrator independently approves it, and a different administrator releases the payout through the configured provider. The system records these roles and blocks role reuse.
- The regulated payment provider receives the locked destination. MotherHelp records the provider transaction and checks the amount.
- Before fundraising begins, the community agent may voluntarily waive the field-support reward. If waived, the actual calculated reward is reallocated to the beneficiary assistance and the waiver is recorded in the settlement audit trail.
- Beneficiary receipt is confirmed before the assistance is marked released and the agent's field-support reward is paid.
